Daily operational forecast for February 24, 2020

The operational forecast of possible emergencies on February 24, 2020 on the territory of the Russian Federation is determined by the passage of 4 cyclones, 3 anticyclones and the atmospheric fronts. 

In connection with the impact of the complex of dangerous meteorological phenomena there is a possibility of occurrence of disruption of work of energy facilities, communications, housing, life support services, all modes of transport: in the Far Eastern Federal District: in 3 Municipal districts of the Sakhalin Region (Yuzhno-Kurilsky Municipal District, Kurilisky Municipal District, Northern Kurilsky Municipal District) (strong snowstorm, the wind 25-30 m/s, gusts up to hurricane 33-35 m/s visibility is 500 m or less); in the Northern Federal District: on the territory of the South Taimyr Municipal district of the Krasnoyarsk Region (southern wind gusts of 15-20 m/s, places 22-27 m/s, snowstorm).

In connection with the effects of complex meteorological phenomena there is a possibility of occurrence of incidents related to violation of the energy facilities, communications, housing, livelihoods, disruption in the operation of all types of transport: in the Volga Federal District: in the Republic of Bashkortostan (wind gusts up to 22 m/s, blizzard, ice, wet snow, poor visibility (500 metres and less), on roads snow drifts, reel, and ice), in the Republic of Tatarstan, Kirov, Orenburg, Samara regions and Perm Territory (gusts of 18-20 m/s); in the Northwestern Federal District: in the Republic of Komi, the Leningrad Region, St.-Petersburg, Nenets Autonomous District (wind 15-20 with gusts up to 22 m/s, blizzard, ice).

In connection with the process of ice formation, there is a risk of people and equipment sinking under the ice of water bodies throughout the Russian Federation, with the exception of the Northern Federal District. The special attention is paid to the territory of the Sakhalin Region (in the Mordvinov Bay and in some areas of the South-Eastern coast of the Sea of Okhotsk, where break and break-off of coastal ice is possible).

Avalanche danger in mountainous areas: in the Northern Federal District (in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in the Republic of Altai, the Republic of Khakassia and the Republic of Tyva; in the North Caucasian Federal District (in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, the Republic of Dagestan and the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic); in the Southern Federal District (in the Republic of Adygea, the Krasnodar Territory).

There is a possibility of activation of landslide processes, landslips, subsidence of soil in the mountain and foothill areas of the North Caucasian Federal District and the Southern Federal District (the Republic of Adygea, the Republic of Crimea, Krasnodar Territory).
