A fire started at a merchandise market in a two-floor pavilion in the city of Rostov-on-Don, 19/4 Lelyushenko Street, at 9:08 Moscow time, 8 October 2017.
Emergency Ministry’s fire and rescue divisions and other emergency services were dispatched immediately to the scene.
The measures taken prevented the spread of the fire to the whole market and nearby residential areas.
The fire was contained at 1:54 AM Moscow time, 9 October 2017. At 7:48 AM, 9 October 2017, open blaze was put out. According to preliminary data, nobody was hurt.
An airmobile team of the Emergency Ministry’s Rostov Region Directorate and Don Rescue Center have been dispatched to the scene, Emergency Ministry’s Beriyev Be-200Chs and 2 Mil Mi-8 helicopters are standing by.
Laboratories are measuring maximum permissible concentration of carbon monoxide at the scene, no exceeding has been registered. The population is kept informed.
A decision-making center of the Emergency Ministry’s All-Russian Fire Defense Research Institute of the Order of “The Badge of Honor” has been deployed to develop efficient approaches to the suppression of the fire.
More than 390 people and over 90 units of special equipment are involved in dealing with the fire.
