Cyclone in Ciscaucasia and Southern areas of Russian Federation

A cyclone has been bringing in rain, hail and wind gusts up to 25 m/s in Ciscaucasia and Southern areas of Russia since 5 July 2018.

As of 06:00 AM, 7 July 2018: water has trained from flooded road sections and yards. The road section of the A-158 Federal Motorway between the settlements of Prokhlandnyi – Baksan – Elbrus in Elbrus District, Kabardino Balkaria and a bridge through the Ullu-Kam River in Karachay District, Karachay-Cherkessia, damage assessment commissions continue their work, aid to the population is being provided.

According to the forecast provided by the Russian Weather Agency and the Antistikhia All-Russian Forecasting and Monitoring Center, the cyclone will continue its influence over the Ciscaucasia area of the Russian Federation on 6 July 2018.

More than 400 people and 70 units of equipment, including more than 170 people and 25 units of equipment provided by the Russian Emergencies Ministry are dealing with the cyclone.

Response to man-caused fires

Fire and rescue divisions have put out 246 fires, 172 of them in residential areas. 41 people have been affected, 33 of them have been saved.

Supervision bodies of the Emergencies Ministry Directorates for constituent territories of the Russian Federation are taking preventive measures to reduce the number of man-caused fires.

Rescue divisions responded to 12 accidents.

Bomb disposal divisions found 50 explosive devices.

Traffic accident response

Fire and rescue teams were deployed 284 times to respond to traffic accidents. 362 people were injured, 242 of them were saved (extricated or saved from dangerous situations in other ways).

Emergency psychological aid

Specialists of the Emergency Ministry psychological service have been involved in rendering emergency psychological aid to people affected by emergencies 8 times. Psychological support was provided on 16 occasions.
