Emergency situations over past 24 hours

Traffic accident in Smolensk Region

A truck and a private minibus collided at 12:03 AM, 7 September 2017, at kilometer marker 182 of M1 Belarus federal highway, 5 km to the west of the settlement of Sverchkovo, Gagarin District. There are victims. The highway was not closed.

30 people and 11 units of equipment, including 12 people and 3 units of equipment provided by the Russian Emergency Ministry, were involved in dealing with the accident.

Response to man-caused fires

Fire and rescue divisions have put out 237 fires, including 170 fires in residential blocks. 62 people have been affected, 51 of them have been saved.

Supervision bodies of the Emergencies Ministry Directorates for constituent territories of the Russian Federation are taking preventive measures to reduce the number of man-caused fires.

Protection of settlements and businesses against wildfires

73 aircraft, including 58 provided by the Russian Emergency Ministry, are on standby to protect settlements, fight wildfires, run air reconnaissance and redeploy forces, (829 flights, 3,689 discharges, 31 million 600 thousand liters of water dropped on wildfires; 1,736 flights to monitor the situation and redeploy personnel and 6,479 people were transported). Ground and air teams have prevented the spread of fires to 3,676 settlements (3 settlements over the past 24 hours).

The situation is under constant satellite and air monitoring, development of the most dangerous fires is being modelled, UAVs are being actively used. Residential blocks and woods are being patrolled, the people are being kept updated on the situation and steps taken.

More than 760 people and 442 units of equipment provided by the Russian Emergency Ministry are involved in protecting settlements, businesses and infrastructure against wildfires in the worst-hit regions (Magadan Region and Buryatia). 

Accidents on waterways

Rescue units have been dispatched to respond to 1 accident on waterways.

Response by bomb disposal divisions

Bomb disposal divisions have found and defused 68 explosive devices, including 7 aerial bombs.

Traffic accident response

Fire and rescue teams have been deployed 264 times to respond totraffic accidents.

323 people have been injured in road traffic accidents, 223 of them have been saved (extricated or saved from dangerous situations in other ways).

Emergency psychological aid

Specialists of the Emergency Ministry psychological service have been involved in rendering emergency psychological aid to people affected by emergencies 9 times. Psychological aid has been provided on 66 occasions.

Fire in Rostov Region

A fire was started by arson at 12:52 Pm on 21 August 2017 in the city of Rostov-on-Don. It quickly spread to 118 houses because of compact planning and gusts of wind up to 15 m/s. There are victims.

The fire was contained at 6:53 Pm on 21 August 2017 within an area of 10,000 sq. meters and was put out at 1:21 PM on 22 August 2017. The fire was stopped from spreading to more than 500 houses.

State of emergency was declared in Rostov Region with the federal level of response and tasks were set to provide all-round assistance to the affected people.

Over the past 24 hours, financial assistance was being provided to the affected people.

Wildfires in Volgograd Region

Fires damaged 155 buildings in 14 settlements in 8 municipalities in Volgograd Region, 126 of which were destroyed. There are victims.

State of emergency was declared in the Volgograd Region with the federal level of response and tasks were set to provide all-round assistance to the affected.

All the affected people has gotten compensations.

Power outages and accidents at facilities of housing and utilities

Over the past 24 hours there was a power outage in Rodionovo-Nesvetaiskaya District, Rostov Region. Repairs are underway.
