The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations together with Russian and American scientists is considering creating a system protecting people and social facilities against threats from outer space.
The fall of meteorite in Chelyabinsk in 2013 made it obvious that threats from space can be real and as destructive as major fires or natural disasters.
This year the Russian Emergencies Ministry plans to start working on global network of Crisis Centers. This will be one of priorities for the Ministry. There is already a project of “road map” for 5 years, which is planned to be implemented together with partners from SCO, APEC, ICDO, EU and other international organizations of G8.
