Firefighters from Moscow practiced innovative fire suppressant delivery system to height of more than 140 meters

The practice has been held in a high-rise housing complex with underground parking, where the personnel of fire and rescue divisions tested new development – pneumatic foam-generator Conty Cafs+Sky Cafs.

According to the scenario of the drill, a fire broke out in an elevator machinery room on 36th floor of the building. Fire suppression systems didn’t work and elevators that have Firefighter transportation mode stopped working. Fire spread through interior decorating to higher floors, generating dense smoke in the process.

Arriving firefighting divisions immediately formed a fire-hose nozzle crew and laid down necessary forcing hoses, as well as laid a water line to 40th floor. The Sky Cafs device, which connected to the fire engine with twin-channel foam generator, was used to put the fire out and protect roofing of the building at the heights of 134 and 140 meters. Sky-foam allows delivery of fire suppressants up to 400 meters by mixing water and foam generating agents with compressed air.

The Deputy Head of 23rd Fire and Rescue Unit of the Federal Fire Department in Moscow Oleg Lisin pointed out that all tasks of the drill were completed.

“Personnel of responding divisions needed to practice cooperation with administration, on-duty personnel, employees of a private security company, as well as other emergency response services”, he said. “All personnel and equipment are ready to respond to emergencies”.

9 units of primary and support fire and rescue equipment, as well as 30 people of personnel were involved into the drill.
