During his working trip in Krasnodar Territory, Minister for Emergency Situations Yevgeny Zinichev has met with Governor Veniamin Kondratyev to discuss cooperation during the work of the territorial subsystem of the Single State Disaster Management System to guarantee safety of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.
A total fire ban was declared in Sochi and other cities hosting FIFA football matches. Compliance with the decisions to suspend hazardous facilities is being monitored. System-112 operates fully in Krasnodar and Sochi. Additional 100 biometric control complexes were installed in transport infrastructure and fan zones.
“The Emergency Ministry has enough experience in guaranteeing safety of such large sports events and it was used to prepare for the current FIFA World’s Cup,” Mr. Zinichev said.
More than 2,000 workers of the Emergency Ministry are going to ensure fire safety at FIFA venues in Krasnodar Territory, using some 200 units of equipment, including 3 helicopters and a plane.
“Large work has been done here in Sochi and other hosting cities,” said the Minister. “All Emergency Ministry’s response divisions are ready to ensure safety during the oncoming international tournament”.
More than 100 people and 16 units of equipment of the Russian Emergency Ministry are going to monitor safety at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi. All stadium’s security systems were adapted for football matches and are in good shape.
Mr. Zinichev then visited the Emergency Ministry’s Southern Regional SAR Unit and the Rescuer Training Center which trains rescuers from all over Russia at different natural sites located in a compact way and used as training grounds for all kinds of training: mountains with different kinds of relief, skiing tracks, mountain rivers, caves and seas.
The Minister examined the working shift and their equipment, met with the staff of the Southern Regional SAR Unit. He saw rescue equipment used daily to conduct fire and rescue operations.
During that meeting the Minister sized up the equipment and level of training of divisions of the Southern Regional SAR Unit.
