The Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov has held a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France Sylvye Bermann to discuss further cooperation of the Ministries in protection of population and territories of our countries against emergencies.
Vladimir Puchkov pointed out that the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s specialists have drafted a working plan for Russian-French cooperation in prevention and mitigation of emergencies, which also provides implementation of joint humanitarian projects.
‘It is essential to consolidate strategic cooperation which allows protecting lives and health of people, social infrastructure and habitual conditions during natural disasters and emergency situations”, pointed out the Minister Puchkov.
Mr. Puchkov also added that Russian Emergencies Ministry is ready to continue cooperation in training of specialists for rescue services and exchange experience in population training.
The Minister also proposed to the French colleagues to join the effort of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and the United Nations to implement the Russian initiative to create a global network of crisis management centers, data exchange and development of satellite monitoring for emergencies.
One of the most important topics for discussion according to Vladimir Puchkov is technological exchange in fire and rescue field.
Russian Beriyev Be-200ChS planes have been used more often to fight wildfires in European countries. Efficiency of these planes was proved in adverse conditions.
“Further development of this matter may lay foundation to creation of the joint squadron for fighting major wildfires and man-caused fires. The squadron could cover European countries during wildfire seasons and make this whole project a breakthrough, the project, that is really needed”, said Vladimir Puchkov.
Sylvye Bermann told that she was impressed with capabilities of the National Crisis Management Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, as well as promptness of Russian rescuers.
The Ambassador also highly praised measures taken to provide safety and security at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
“I saw the efforts the Russian Emergencies Ministry took to provide safe stay of guests and participants of the World Cup. And these measures are carried out on the highest level”, pointed out Sylvye Bermann.
She also told that rescue service of France is interested in experience of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in creation of humanitarian centers abroad.
