A state of federal emergency has been introduced due to the flood in Yakutia, said Vladimir Puchkov during the meeting of the working group of the Governmental Disaster Management Commission.
He said that task force of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and other structures is being reinforced.
“Our task here is to minimize the impact of the flood and render aid and support to the population”, said Vladimir Puchkov. According to him, the flood situation in Yakutia remains adverse.
“We are concluding the first stage of the efforts in the south, where water is starting to go away. We are redeploying forces to the north, where the second and third stages of the flood are expected”, added the Minister.
Vladimir Puchkov stressed that every affected person will receive aid from the reserve fund of the Russian Federation. Compensation will also be paid out to those, who are staying in temporary shelters.
According to the Government of Yakutia, 11 settlements have been hit by floods, 6-7 more settlements are prone to flodding.
