The Acting Emergencies Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Puchkov has arrived to Yakutia to control flood mitigation efforts and provision of aid to the local population. He also will hold a meeting to hear reports on the current situation in the area.
Upon arrival to Yakutia, the Minister carried out a fly-by of flooded areas. He will visit the settlement of Amga, which has suffered the most damage from the flood, to meet with the locals and check the progress of relief efforts.
An adverse flood situation is currently developing in Yakutia and it may become worse due to simultaneous breakup of several rivers.
The Ministry’s task force is reinforced by the rescuers from the Far Eastern Regional Search and Rescue Unit and servicemen of the Amur Rescue Center.
