Vladimir Puchkov has met today at the Emergency Ministry with participants of the 10th Big Arctic Expedition who have just returned from Spitsbergen island.
“You managed this expedition with courage. You lived and worked under such conditions which not every adult would handle. Of course, it is the credit of your teachers to large extent. Today we are accepting you into our brethren of rescuers,” Mr. Puchkov said.
He awarded the teenagers with ministerial awards and berets.
Following order of Emergency Minister Vladimir Puchkov a plane owned by the Emergency Ministry delivered on 20 April 19 participants of the Matvei Shparo’s 10th youth skiing expedition to Spitsbergen Island. Rescuers coordinated the expedition and helped to ensure safety of its participants.
School students from Moscow subjugated the North Pole. Seven of them skied 110 km (the length of 1 degree of latitude), while the others stayed at the Borneo polar station to conduct scientific experiments on 8 subjects.
On 25 April, the teenagers got back to Moscow aboard a Sukhoi Superjet 100 owned by the Emergency Ministry.
