A meeting of the Governmental Disaster Management and Fire Safety Commission has been held today under the leadership of Emergency Minister Vladimir Puchkov to discuss additional steps to enhance preparedness of managing bodies, forces and facilities of response divisions ensuring safety of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.
Besides the senior officials of the Ministry, the meeting was also attended by heads of four regions that are going to host matches of the tournament.
Deputy Emergency Minister Vladlen Aksyonov said that over 40 thousand people and over 4.4 thousand units of equipment of the Emergency Ministry are going to be deployed to ensure safety of the FIFA World Cup. More than 60 aircraft and over 340 aviation specialists are also planned to be involved.
He noted that all hosting cities have such Emergency Ministry teams. Additionally, landing pads and water supply points around sports venues, helipads near hospitals prepared to be used for medevacs are being checked. Flight safety steps have been taken.
“More than 1,200 fire tac drills and exercises, full-scale and special exercises have been held, more than 880 plans and fire suppression cars have been developed and revised this year involving forces and forces of the Single State Disaster Management System,” Mr. Aksyonov said.
He also said that 379 facilities, including 77 sports venues, 206 residential buildings and 96 facilities of transport infrastructure are under control with responsible officials from Emergency Ministry’s regional directorates assigned to each of them.
