Emergency Ministry rescuers get awarded for courage and professionalism demonstrated during flood in Altai Territory rss

Head of Altai Territory Alexander Karlin has highly appreciated the work done by employees of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations while rescuing people and during relief operations after a massive flood in populated areas. He signed an order to thank them officially for courage and professionalism.

The document mentions all the divisions sent to Altai Territory to help municipal and regional authorities and population of the region battle the flood. They are rescuers of the Altai SAR Unit, Berdsk SAR Unit and Siberian Rescue Center, Siberian Regional SAR Unit, Special Department of the Federal Fire Service, Ural Regional SAR Unit, Kemerovo Region and Altai Republic Center of the State Small Vessels Inspectorate, as well as crews of a Mil Mi-8 helicopter of the Krasnoyarsk Integrated Aerial Rescue Center of the Emergency Ministry.

Deputy head of the territorial office (aviation) of the Siberian Regional Center Andrei Gruzdov and head of the Siberian Regional Center Sergei Didenko were awarded medals “For Services to the Society”, while captain of the Mi-8 helicopter of the Krasnoyarsk Integrated Aerial Rescue Center Sergei Zubar got a medal “For Honor and Courage”.

The state of emergency in Altai Territory was cancelled on 23 April due to stabilization of the flood situation. The flood had damaged more than 3,000 homes and over 8,000 farmlands in 38 municipalities.

Almost 1,500 people, more than 500 units of equipment, some 50 watercraft had been deployed to deal with the disaster.
