Vladimir Kuvshinov re-elected as Secretary General of International Civil Defense Organization

Representative of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kuvshinov has been once again re-elected to the position of the Secretary General of the International Defense Organizations during the 23rd meeting of the General Assembly of the Organizations, which has been held in the capital of Qatar, Doha. ICDO members unanimously voted for the Russian representative.

Vladimir Kuvshinov thanked delegations of all state-members of the organization for the reelection. “I’d like to express my gratitude for your trust”, he said and pointed out that ICDO has ambitions plans. “We will do everything possible to implement all of them”, he said.

ICDO is the only international intergovernmental organization, which specializes in civil defense and security on the international level. ICDO’s headquarters are located in Geneva. As of now, there are 56 state-members apart from Russia and 17 more states have observer status.

Vladimir Kuvshinov has been the Secretary General of ICDO since 24 April 2014. For a long time he served in the Russian Emergencies Ministry on various positions, as well as assumed the position of a councilor of the permanent delegation of the Russian Federation in European Union – representative of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in the European Union.

Vladimir Kuvshinov has been dealing with international cooperation in disaster management for more than 20 years.
