Rescue ministries of Russian and Qatar will extend fields of interaction and reinforce cooperation. It was agreed during the mutual meeting of the Department of International Activities of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Romanov with the Director General of Public Security Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi and the Director General of Civil Defence Staff Brigadier Abdullah Mohammed Al Suwaidi.
The meeting was held within 23rd Session of General Assembly of the International Civil Defense Organizations (ICDO).
“Russian and Qatar have already established stable political dialogue and we expect that our agencies will have fruitful cooperation. We have common views and goals to decrease risks in prevention and mitigation of emergency situations, as well as in civil defense”, said Alexander Romanov.
He also pointed out that the meeting in Qatar will boost the relations between the agencies of our countries to a new level. “This may be a good start for implementation of joint projects of Russia and Qatar”, stressed Alexander Romanov.
In turn, Al Khulaifi pointed out that Qatar is interested in joining to global network of crisis management centers of other countries and international organizations, as well as in exchange of information, forecasts and prevention of emergencies via satellite monitoring. Additionally, Qatar considers the possibility of training of specialists in prevention and mitigation of emergencies in Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Universities.
Memorandum on cooperation in prevention and mitigation of emergencies between the Russian Emergencies Ministry and the Directorate of Civil Defense of Qatar has been signed during the meeting. This document provides a plan of actions to carry out joint humanitarian projects and programs both on bilateral basis and in cooperation with international organizations, including ICDO.
During the 23rd meeting of the General Assembly of the ICDO, the Director General of Public Security Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi expressed condolences to the Russian delegation due to tragedy in Kemerovo.
“On behalf of the Government of Qatar I’d like to express sincerest condolences regarding recent tragedy”, he said.
Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi expressed hope that all the injured will recover soon and get necessary medical aid.
Alexander Romanov thanked Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi and leaders of Qatar for support and condolences.
