Russian rescuers to take part in international exercise to mitigate floods

The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s delegation has made a working trip to Italy to take part in briefing regarding NEIFLEX 2018 International exercise.

Specialists from the Russian Emergencies Ministry will be involved into the exercise in accordance with agreements, reached during the meeting of the Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov and the Head of Civil Protection Department of Italy Angelo Borelli.

Representatives of emergency services of Russia, France, Austria, Slovenia, Montenegro and Serbia visited northeastern part of Italy within preparatory measures, as this part of Italy is the most prone to floods. Specialists reviewed the idea of the exercise, as well as set tasks to specialists of every country.

Representatives of other countries pointed out significant experience of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in mitigation of major floods and ensured that experience exchange with the Russian rescuers will be beneficial for all the participating countries.

NEIFLEX 2018 exercies will be held under the aegis of the European Commission and the Civil Defense Department of Italy. Specialists from 7 countries will participate in the exercise to practice joint actions to rescue people from flood areas using rescue aircraft and special equipment, as well as data exchange and cooperation during major emergencies.
