40 fishers have been rescued by the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s specialists from the Gulf of Finland over the past 24 hours.
Cracks in the ice-field of the Gulf of Finland cut off 40 fishers from the shore near Sosnovy Bor Urban Area of Leningrad Region and Kronstadt District of Saint Petersburg.
Rescuers from the Northwestern Regional Search and Rescue Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and Search and Rescue Service of Saint Petersburg, as well as Water Safety Unit of the Saint Petersburg Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry were immediately dispatch to deliver fishers to the shore.
Rescuers used 9 Khivus-10 hovercraft to transport the fishers. None of them required medical aid.
The worst outcome was avoided thanks to immediate response and modern equipment.
30 people and 12 units of equipment were involved into rescue operation.
