Prime Minister of the Republic of Servia Ana Brnabic has thanked the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations and the staff of the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center in the town of Nis for invaluable help in fighting wildfires and floods.
“Activity of the Center is very important for Serbia,” Ms. Brnabic said.
The Center in Nis is an intergovernmental humanitarian non-commercial organization with rights of a legal entity. One of its main missions is providing international aid in crisis situations.
Last year the Center celebrated its 5th anniversary. It was established following an agreement concluded between governments of Russia and Serbia on 25 April 2012 and signed in Nis by Russian Minister for Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov and then Interior Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic. The Center was created to ensure humanitarian response to emergency situations in Serbia and other Balkan countries. It is also responsible for implementation of joint projects and programs in those countries, including humanitarian demining operations.
