Emergency Ministry’s rescuers have helped today to 40 vehicles stranded on a road in Sakhalin Region hit by a cyclone that brough in snowfalls, snowstorms and winds gusting up to 20 m/s. An airmobile team of the Emergency Ministry’s Sakhalin Region Directorate is working to help drivers stranded on the section of the road between Firsovo and Vzmorye. 12 units of equipment are clearing the road and there is a warming center for stranded drivers. The situation is under control.
The cyclone forced the closure of ferry crossing between Kholmsk (Sakhalin Region) and Vanino (Khabarovsk Territory), while interurban buses have not been able to take roads between Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Poronaisk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Uglegorsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Makarov since 4 AM Moscow time.
