As part of his working visit to the town of Naryan-Mar, Minister for Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov has checked today readiness of the Nenets Arctic Comprehensive Emergency Rescue Center to respond to accidents, including fires.
There are 6 Arctic Emergency Rescue Centers armed with Russian-made equipment and gears to ensure integrated safety and security in the Arctic. Each of them has satellite emergency monitoring and forecasting system.
“Four Arctic Rescue Centers are going to be put into operation within the next three years. The Emergencies Ministry is taking a number of steps to develop its forces and facilities in the Arctic,” Mr. Puchkov said.
He added that efficiency of the Arctic team of rescuers and firemen is growing as modern rescue technologies are being adopted. As of today there are more than 18 thousand responders in the Arctic.
