The awarding ceremony of the IX All-Russian Safety and Rescue Festival “Constellation of Courage” has been held today at the Fundamental Library of the Lomonosov State University of Moscow.
Everybody applauded to the winner in “The Most Energetic Senior Official in the Emergency Ministry” nomination because it is Chairman of the Central Council of Emergency Ministry’s Veterans retired Lieutenant General and veteran of the Great Patriotic War Dmitry Mikhailik.
Despite his elderly age, Mr. Mikhailik is 97, he is still on duty. Lucidity of mind and great physical shape let him carry out very active activity, hold meetings and attend a lot of official events.
He got his award from the hands of Minister for Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov, who sincerely congratulated the veteran.
“I congratulate all the winners who deserved their awards. A lot has been done to train rescuers, firemen and to improve material resources over this year, which was the Year of Civil Defense in the Emergency Ministry,” said Mr. Mikhailik.
He remembered that during the Great Patriotic War, he had had to protect his homeland and then to work hard to restore the country.
“I am proud that I have been working for 45 years in the Emergency Ministry, the ministry that does everything to rescue people. This is a heroic ministry! Each rescuer and firefighter does the impossible, when they come to help those in trouble. I bow to you, dear rescuers,” Mr. Mikhailik said.
He also thanked the Minister for high appreciation of his work.
“As long as I breathe, I will do my best for our heroic Ministry for Emergency Situations. Long live Great Russia! Long live the heroic Emergency Ministry! And long live today’s winners!” said Mr. Mikhailik.
