The Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov has held a task meeting with the Head of the Civil Protection Department of Council of Ministers of Italy Angelo Borelli. Further development of cooperation between the countries in the field of prevention and mitigation of emergencies, as well as development of multilateral cooperation in security were discussed during the meeting.
“Russian-Italian relations have a long history of mutual cultural and spiritual heritage. We pay special attention to cooperation in the field of civil defense, prevention and mitigation of emergencies. Emergency response services of our countries numerously joined the forces to combat emergencies and our specialists worked side by side in the most adverse conditions”, said Vladimir Puchkov.
In August 2016, the Russian Emergencies Ministry together with Italian colleagues took part in mitigation of a catastrophic earthquake that occurred in Italy.
“We came to Russia to see how you organize security and get new experience in such fields as, taking out wildfires, as it’s a great problem for our country. We strive to support our cooperation and friendly relations between our countries in the field of protection of the population, so our citizens could live in the safe world”, pointed out Angelo Borelli.
Heads of the Russian and Italian emergency response agencies also talked about forecasting and monitoring of earthquakes, as this matter is important for both countries. Both sides stressed importance of launching and supporting mutual relations on high and expert levels in this field.
“Signing of minutes of today’s meeting symbolizes preparedness of the Russian and Italian Emergencies Ministrys to develop mutual cooperation in our activities and seek for new opportunities for cooperation, as well as expresses solidarity of our approaches to dealing with emergencies”, said Vladimir Puchkov. The Minister also invited the Italian colleague to take part in Integrated Safety and Security Expo, which is going to be held in July 2018.
