Mobile diagnostic complex Struna to start examining collapsed building in Izhevsk

Minister for Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov has arrived in Izhevsk today to personally inspect the SAR operations following a house collapse. According to the Minister, mobile diagnostic complex Struna delivered from Moscow would soon start examining the remains of the building to assess its structural soundness.

Fire and rescue divisions, airmobile teams of the Emergency Ministry’s Udmurtia, Bashkortostan and Perm Territory Directorates, rescuers of the Siberian and Volga Regional SAR Units with SAR dogs and rescue equipment continue working at the scene.

According to the Minister, the responders are now removing the debris on the first floor and the basement.

“The SAR operation is ongoing involving best rescuers from all areas of Siberia and neighboring regions – Bashkortostan, Tatarstan and Perm Territory. Though the most of the work has been done, I remind of safety once more,” said the Mr. Puchkov.

He added that the operation is going on under complex conditions and in close cooperation with all the services and agencies concerned.
