Ground crews and Emergency Ministry’s aircraft continue battling with wildfires in Maritime Territory.
Over the past 24 hours the firefighters focused their main efforts in Kavalerovo District. Two Emergency Ministry’s Beriyev Be-200ChS amphibious jets made 4 flights dropping onto fires over 300 tons of fire retardant in 25 volleys. They prevented the fires from spreading to two settlements populated by some 3,000 people. In all, the Ministry’s air tankers have dropped more than 600 tons of fire retardant in more than 50 volleys.
The crews involved in dealing with the fires is being reinforced. In the past 24 hours alone, more than 220 people and over 15 units of equipment arrived in Maritime Territory and started suppressing the fires.
In addition, the Emergency Ministry has dispatched another air tanker – Ilyushin Il-76. The heavy aircraft can drop up to 42 tons of water onto fires in one volley.
Efficient use of the Emergency Ministry’s aircraft and ground crews will allow stabilizing the wildfire situation in the region in short time and preventing fire from spreading to settlements and infrastructure.
