Minister Vladimir Puchkov has had today a working meeting with head of Karachai-Cherkessia Rashid Temrezov.

The two officials discussed cooperation between the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations and local authorities of Karachay-Cherkessia in ensuring safety in the resorts of the republic and preparing to autumn and winter.

“Resorts keep developing. Hundreds of thousands of tourists are coming to the republic almost year round and rescue divisions and all services of the region work in close cooperation to ensure not only comfortable conditions for them, but their safety meeting international standards,” Mr. Puchkov said.

They also discussed reinforcement of the Crisis Management Center of the region and the whole response service.

“The fire and rescue garrison is going to be reinforced in 2017, new equipment and gears are planned to be supplied, the personnel are going to be trained and retrained. Cooperation between all regions of Ciscaucasia is going to be developed as well,” the Minister said.

Mr. Temrezov noted that volunteer fire department was being actively forming in the region with direct involvement and support of the Emergencies Ministry.

“Volunteer fire brigades are being actively created thanks to the support of the Emergencies Ministry. This helps us to keep control over flood and wildfires situations across the region, and to ensure safety of people at resorts,” Mr. Temrezov said.

Equipment, tools and gears that still can be used, but served the prescribed time at professional divisions are handed down to corresponding authorities in the republic to form the voluntary fire and rescue department. According to the Minister, this work is of especial importance in remote rural settlements. This approach on the one hand allows keeping the equipment? While on the other – gives an opportunity to provide practical assistance to people.
