VI Society for Safety Forum of Emergencies Ministry and Non-Governmental Organizations starts

An opening of the VI Society for Safety Forum of Emergencies Ministry and Non-Governmental Organizations has started on the airfield of Vytegra, Vologda Region today.

The Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov and the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council, the Hero of Russia, the Honored Rescuer, Yuri Vorobyov, the Governor of Vologda Region Oleg Kuvshinnikov, the Special Representative of the Russian President for cooperation in the Arctic and the Antarctic Artur Chilingarov and the Council of the President on Climate Change Alexander Bedritsky took part in the ceremony.

“One of the most important aspects of the Emergencies Ministry’s operation will be discussed during the Forum, namely development of the air rescue technologies in the Arctic. The Emergencies Ministry develops new technologies for specialists training in the Arctic, as well as for provision of safety”, said Vladimir Puchkov in the opening speech.

“Experts in problems of the Arctic, climate, water resources and territorial development take part in the Forum”, said Yuri Vorobyov.

The Emergencies Minister also noted that the latest emergency response technologies are being introduced to the Arctic, such as new equipment, vehicles and UAVs. These technologies provide rapid transportation of rescue divisions and medevac of the injured.

“Testing of new equipment takes place in the Arctic Rescue and TrainingCenter in Vytegra. We will use technologies made by our scientists”, said Vladimir Puchkov. According to him, protection of personnel, safety of workflow and keeping unique nature of the Arctic are the most important matters in development of the Arctic.

Hundreds of the Forum participants and local residents were demonstrated modern rescue aircraft, used to protect population in the Arctic. Additionally, the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s specialists demonstrated delivery of people and goods to the simulated emergency scene, rapelling and evacuation of the injured.
