A meeting of the Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov and the Supervisor General of the KingSalmanCenter for Humanitarian Aid and Relief of Saudi Arabia has taken place today in the National Crisis Management Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
“As of today, there is no legal basis for cooperation of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and the KingSalmanCenter for Humanitarian Aid and Relief”, said Vladimir Puchkov. “In connection with that, I propose to order our expert to develop a legal document that allows developing cooperation, as well as plans for joint humanitarian projects and programs, as bilateral ones and in cooperation with the international organizations”.
The Minister also noted new technologies of the foreign colleagues in the field of prevention and mitigation of emergencies and expressed confidence that mutual cooperation between specialists will be helpful to ministries of both countries.
“Taking into consideration the key role of the Saudi Arabia in rendering relief operations and active participation in the International Civil Defence Organization, we see it appropriate to join our efforts in resolving of complex relief situation in countries of the Middle East and consider creation of joint projects under aegis of the International Civil Defence Organization”, said Vladimir Puchkov.
The Supervisor General of the KingSalmanCenter for Humanitarian Aid and Relief said that he had a meeting with the Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations and raised a question about importance of a mutual cooperation between emergency ministries of both countries.
“The KingSalmanCenter for Humanitarian Aid and Relief was established for coordination of relief operations and rendering aid to affected people all over the world. For almost 2 years of existence the Center fulfilled 190 programs in 37 countries featuring 102 international partners. We conducted several programs in Sirya and helped more than 291,000 refugees. We conduct our operations in Iraq, Somalia, South Sudan”, pointed out Abdullah al-Rabeeah.
Vladimir Puchkov said that it is necessary to establish cooperation between Russian and Saudi Arabian National Crisis Management Centers.
“We have to establish cooperation in data exchange, forecasting and prevention of emergencies via monitoring from space”, said Vladimir Puchkov.
He also pointed out that the Russian Emergencies Ministry could provide Saudi Arabia on compensation basis its motor division and aircraft for delivery of relief goods and property for deployment and provision of functioning of temporary camps.
In turn, the Supervisor General of the KingSalmanCenter for Humanitarian Aid and Relief Abdullah al-Rebeeah pointed out that he greets any cooperation with the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
“We will greet any kind of cooperation between the Russian Emergencies Ministry and our Center. First of all, it’s a strategic partnership in data exchange. Second is probation of our staff in your educational facilities. Participation in international efforts are also of great interest for us”, said Abdullah al-Rebeeah, and he pointed out that he is greatly interested in data exchange concerning forecasting of natural disasters via space satellites.
At the end of the meeting, the Russian Emergencies Minister invited Saudi Arabian colleagues to participate in the Integrated Security international forum for security, which will take place in Moscow in June of this year.
