Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov has met today Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Russian Federation Abdulrahman Ibrahim Ali Al-Rassi to discuss bilateral cooperation.
The meeting was held to prepare the visit of the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief’s (KSRelief) delegation headed by its General Supervisor and Adviser at the Royal Court Abdullah al-Rabeeah.
Messrs. Puchkov and Ali Al-Rassi determined international humanitarian aid and training of civil defense specialists as priorities of joint activities. They also discussed cooperation in human protection.
The Russian Minister invited foreign colleagues to take part in the X International Exhibition Integrated Safety and Security 2017 due next June in the town of Noginsk just outside Moscow, and expressed his hope for developed and tighter bilateral liaisons. Officials of the Civil Defense Department of the Saudi Arabia Ministry of the Interior attended the exhibition two years ago and expressed interest in developing cooperation with the Russian Emergencies Ministry in disaster management and relief.
The Ambassador was shown capacities of the National Crisis Management Center and noted that Russian specialists had high level of training.
The foreign guests were able to see how the specialists worked and cooperation with other concerned agencies involved in emergency management. Their particular interest was drawn to space monitoring – a system allowing forecasting tsunamis, earthquakes and other dangerous events capable of causing natural or man-made disasters.
The Ambassador highly appreciated efforts made by the Emergency Ministry to protect the population and areas against disasters and expressed hope for further cooperation in this area.
