The Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov has visited the scene of the collision of a passenger and a commuter trains in Moscow and said that measures taken to mitigate the accident allowed avoiding worst case scenario.
“Taken measures allowed to prevent fire and further worsening of the situation”, said the Minister.
He pointed out that the situation was severe.
“4th Fire and Rescue Division and Search and Rescue Unit No.6 first arrived to the scene and commenced search and rescue operation. The situation was confusing at first. Overhead contact system was deenergized, as it was necessary to prevent fire. All services worked fast and in cooperation”, pointed out Puchkov.
“Full scale recovery operation is underway. All firefighters and rescuers provide aid to the Investigative Committee and other law-enforcement agencies that look into the accident”, said the Minister.
First commuter trains will go on routes in the morning.
