Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov has held today a working meeting with Head of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov to discuss further joint disaster management efforts, and particularly the readiness of the region to spring floods and fire season, as well as preparation to the 2018 Football Championship.
Minister Puchkov noted that Mordovia was introducing new safety technologies and implementing all Emergency Ministry’s projects, including improvement of integrated safety system, development of the single emergency call system 112 and crisis management system.
Special attention was paid to spring floods. Mr. Volkov said that all hydraulic facilities were being checked and all emergency and vital services were fully ready. “Our region and the Emergency Ministry had joint experience of responding to a 2012 massive flooding. People then got all necessary help and support. Considering experience of the past years we developed and corrected plans for flood season of 2017. Monitoring of the flood situation is under constant control”. Said Vladimir Volkov.
Preparation of Mordovia to the 2018 Football Championship was also discussed during the meeting. Football matches will take place in the capital of the Republic – the city of Saransk and that is why safety of guests and participants of the Championship is given special attention.
In 2016 the Russian Emergencies Ministry have started reconstruction of the specialized fire depot of the 1st squad of the Federal Fire Service of Mordovia, which ended in January of this year.
“Creation of new and comfortable conditions for duty of fire and rescue units will allow increasing the quality of response and overall protection of the city against fires. We will continue reinforcing the personnel and improve the regional Crisis Management Center. We also plan to supply new equipment and vehicles, as well as carry out drills”, said Vladimir Puchkov and pointed out that all decisions taken to prepare Mordovia to the 2018 Football Championship are taken at the highest level.
The Minister pointed out that the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup will take place in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi and the experience gained during preparation and conducting of that international event will be later used in Mordovia.
At the end of the meeting the Emergencies Minister pointed out that Vladimir Volkov gives special attention to prevention of the emergencies in the region, as well as personally participates in preventive measures. In turn the Head of Mordovia thanked Vladimir Puchkov for support and cooperation in resolving of matters, concerning safety in the constituent territory.
