Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov takes working trip to Sochi

The Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov is taking a working trip today to Sochi.

One of the key matters in the Minister’s plan is to examine preparedness of the Emergencies Ministry’s units for provision of safety during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, which is going to take place in summer of 2017

During the trip, the Minister will visit the 19th Fire and Rescue Station designated to protect the Sochi Olympic Park, where the meeting of the government commission for provision of safety during the FIFA Confederations Cup will take place. The Emergencies Minister will also examine preparedness of personnel and equipment of the Sochi Fire and Rescue Garrison, designated to mitigate possible emergencies during the sports events. It is planned to involve more than 1,000 employees of the Krasnodar Region Directorate of the Emergencies Ministry and more than 230 units of equipment, including the aircraft of the Ministry for protection of the FIFA Confederations Cup.

It is worth noting that all vehicles and equipment of the Sochi Garrison were completely renewed for the events. New fire engines allow not only putting out fires, but also mitigating different emergencies. New specialized equipment was also given to the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s unit, such as fire and rescue vehicles for operation in tunnels and reversing drive vehicles, intended for evacuation of people and fire fighting in the tunnels. New equipment also includes fire and rescue motorcycles, quad bikes, ATVs, fire and rescue boats and unmanned aerial vehicles.
