Emergency Ministry’s aircraft keep on protecting settlements and put out wildfires in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area. A water-dropping Ilyushin Il-76 plane has arrived today in the town of Salekhard hit hardest by wildfires.
Minister for Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov has held today a meeting of the Government Disaster Management Commission’s working group and given an order to send more aircraft to fight wildfires in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area.
The number of rescue teams on duty will be increased by 20% to improve the performance of Emergency Ministry’s regional SAR teams. These are responders who attend road accidents, fires, man-caused incidents, run relief operations after natural disasters and help people in trouble.
An additional team of 50 specialists of the Emergency Ministry’s Amur Rescue Center arrived in the region the day before. They have 9 watercraft and necessary equipment. They are going to clean up the town of rubble and debris, to make crossings across flooded areas and to help the affected people.
The joint drill of the fire and rescue units of the Sebastopol Directorate of the Emergencies Ministry, dedicated to rescuing of people from tall buildings, as well as cooperation with the staff during the emergency, has taken place today.
